Roger David, CEO and President of Gold Star, gave an engaging talk on Gold Star’s role in Cincinnati Chili’s history, which was originally created by Greek immigrants who founded Empress Chili in the 1920s. When Roger’s father and uncles moved to Cincinnati from Jordan, they started Gold Star Chili in 1965 by buying Heavenly Hamburger from a former Empress Chili employee. From there, Gold Star Chili has grown through franchising and expanded menu options. Roger also shared how his 15 years outside the family business provided him with new perspectives and skills to lead Gold Star forward.
