Tell us a little bit about your career, educational/professional background and how you got to where you are today.

After serving 5 years in the Navy, I went to business school to study finance and accounting. I spent my first few years focused on mergers & acquisitions and then moved over to the CFO track gaining skills in various areas in finance. I’ve had a good mix of domestic and international experience (public and private) as well as exposure to several different industries which has helped me in my current roles as CFO of both a Private Family Office and a publicly traded healthcare company.

What Board committee do you serve on? And what role does that committee play in enhancing the Chapter?

I currently serve on the Sponsorship Committee which has allowed me to share the great advantages of our FEI Chapter in Tampa Bay and build terrific relationships in areas that I don’t have much experience. I have also been to several national FEI meetings and that has proven what a great chapter and organization we have in Tampa which is why I have been an active member of FEI for 15 years. I highly recommend our existing members to get involved and the Sponsorship Committee is a great start.

Why is philanthropy important to the FEI Tampa Bay Chapter? How does the Chapter give back?

I have been a strong supporter of Junior Achievement (JA). JA is a fantastic organization that teaches financial literacy to our youths. Over the years FEI has been a terrific partner with JA and it is very rewarding to share your career experience with the future generation. I strongly recommend that our members participate in the JA for a day when our chapter volunteers. It really hits differently for the kids when they have someone that has actually done the work.

What is the most rewarding part of being a member of FEI Tampa Bay?

It’s the people. I spent a number of years in my career just working in the office and going home without much interaction. And especially now with the amount of work from home, the camaraderie and knowing that you aren’t the only one that had a financing issue or management issue and having those resources to bounce ideas off of is priceless.

What is your best networking tip?

Don’t wait until you need to do it. It’s always better to have those conversations and introductions sooner rather than later. Especially when you go into it without an agenda. Additionally, it’s helpful to network with up-and-coming financial professionals. It’s a two-way street.
