What is the most rewarding part of being involved in FEI Tampa Bay?
The most rewarding part of being involved in FEI Tampa Bay is the opportunity to connect with a community of like-minded finance leaders who are genuinely invested in each other’s growth. Whether it’s through thought-provoking discussions, sharing best practices, or collaborating on solutions to today’s challenges, there’s a real sense of mutual support.
The relationships I’ve built and the insights I’ve gained through FEI have been incredibly valuable—not just professionally, but personally as well. It’s a rare and refreshing environment where learning and leadership go hand in hand.
How does your company provide value to finance executives in the Tampa Bay area?
CBIZ empowers finance executives with a comprehensive suite of service offerings that align financial, operational, and strategic priorities under one trusted partner. Our solutions span six key areas: accounting, tax, advisory, insurance, employee benefits & HR, and technology. This multidisciplinary approach allows us to collaborate across service lines, providing holistic guidance that’s aligned with each client’s goals—whether it's navigating a complex audit, optimizing a tax strategy, enhancing risk management, improving workforce performance, or upgrading core IT systems. Our teams work together to deliver insights and execution that are both strategic and practical.
With nearly 1,000 professionals in the state of Florida and four offices in the Greater Tampa Bay area, CBIZ brings deep local expertise backed by the national resources of one of the country’s largest professional services firms. This scale and flexibility allow us to support clients ranging from emerging businesses to large, complex organizations—offering both high-touch service and scalable solutions.
Ultimately, our goal is to act as a true extension of our clients’ leadership teams—helping them navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and lead with confidence in an ever-changing business landscape.
What is one piece of information you wish someone had told you when you first started your career?
One piece of advice I wish someone had given me early on is that it’s okay to take calculated risks—even in a traditionally risk-averse field like accounting. Early in my career, I focused heavily on precision, compliance, and sticking to the “safe” path. While that built a strong technical foundation, I later realized that stepping outside of my comfort zone—whether by taking on cross-functional projects, speaking up with new ideas, or pursuing leadership opportunities before I felt 100% ready—was where real growth happened. Accounting gives you structure, but don’t let that structure limit your potential to lead, innovate, or try something bold.
What do you love most about working in the finance profession?
What I love most about working in the finance profession—especially within Risk Advisory at CBIZ—is the constant opportunity to be both a strategic thinker and a problem solver. Every client engagement presents a new puzzle. Whether it’s navigating complex regulatory challenges, identifying operational vulnerabilities, or helping organizations build more resilient internal controls, our work directly impacts how confident leaders can be in their decisions.
At the partner level, I especially value the ability to shape that strategic direction—not just for our clients, but for our team. There’s something incredibly rewarding about mentoring emerging talent and seeing them evolve into trusted advisors themselves. Finance may seem numbers-driven on the surface, but the real heart of it lies in trust, relationships, and the ripple effect of good guidance. In Risk Advisory, we’re not just identifying what can go wrong—we’re empowering businesses to thrive by ensuring what can go right is built on a solid foundation. That’s a responsibility I take seriously, and a privilege I genuinely enjoy every day.
What are some of your personal hobbies outside of work?
Outside of work, I really enjoy spending meaningful (and often lively) time with my family. At home, you’ll usually find me roughhousing with my two boys or diving into a LEGO build that somehow takes over the entire kitchen island. We’ve built everything from castles to spaceships—it's a fun and creative way to connect, and I truly cherish those moments. We also love getting out on the water. Boating to Egmont Key or John’s Pass at sunset has become one of our favorite ways to unwind together—it’s a great way to slow things down. I also enjoy fishing and stone crabbing whenever I can. There's something especially rewarding about reeling in a good catch or bringing home fresh crab for dinner.
And when football season rolls around, it’s game time—literally. I'm a long-time season ticket holder of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and going to games with my wife and kids is a tradition we all look forward to.
