Background

Why did the MFM Board decide to join FEI?

After months of careful review and negotiation, the MFM Board of Directors concluded that merging with FEI is the best path forward for the more than 1,200 media and entertainment finance professionals MFM serves.

The recent FEI + MFM Financial Leaders Forum in San Antonio demonstrated the strength of the two organizations working together and confirmed that now is the right time to build on that momentum. Merging with FEI allows MFM to preserve the media-specific programming members value while positioning the community for greater reach, long-term strength, and continued growth.

My FEI Membership

Will my membership dues increase?

No. In fact, most MFM members will see their dues decrease or stay the same – while gaining access to the full range of FEI programs, products, and services:

  • Individual Media Industry Members will become FEI Individual Professional Members – Dues drop from $495 to $318 for FY 2027, a reduction of roughly 36%.
  • Corporate Industry Group Members will become FEI Corporate Membership Program Members – Annual investment rates for FEI Corporate Membership can be viewed here.
  • Associate Members will remain Associate Members on a one-time accommodation tied to the merger in recognition of their valued partnership with MFM.

Is Chapter membership required for MFM members?

Your FEI membership connects you to financial leaders nationwide. FEI's Chapter network offers something more local: financial leaders in your area, meeting regularly, and building relationships close to home.

As an MFM member transitioning to FEI, joining a Chapter is optional, not a requirement. If you'd like to get involved locally, it's simply another way to make the most of what FEI offers.

What Chapters offer:

  • Local events and programming throughout the year
  • Peer connections with financial leaders in your region
  • Leadership opportunities within FEI's broader structure

Some Chapters carry a separate membership fee, set individually by each Chapter. If you choose to join one, that cost is separate from your FEI membership and varies by Chapter.

Curious what's available near you? You can explore FEI's Chapters and decide if joining one is right for you. FEI Chapter Leaders will begin reaching out to those local to their market and invite them to engage once the merger is official on October 1.

How will I renew my membership going forward?

Members will renew their membership through the “My Membership” tab in their profile on the FEI website. All Members receive email notifications about their renewal invoice two months before their membership expiration date. They then have a two-month grace period after their Membership expires to renew by submitting payment. Membership benefits remain active throughout the grace period and continue until payment is received or the grace period ends.

What will happen to event registrations I've already made?

If you registered on the MFM website before October 1, 2026 for an event taking place after that date, FEI will add the registration to your Member profile.

What are the benefits of FEI?

Founded in 1931, FEI is a leading association serving the finance and accounting profession across all industries. As an FEI Member, you gain access to a national network that grows to more than 12,500 financial leaders when MFM members join FEI on October 1, 2026, along with:

  • National conferences and optional local Chapter events
  • Continuing professional education opportunities
  • Research and thought leadership from the Financial Education & Research Foundation (FERF)
  • FEIconnect, a private members-only online community for connecting with finance leaders nationwide – every Member is automatically added to the Member Open Forum, a great starting point for getting connected
  • Engagement with standard-setters and regulators on behalf of finance professionals

FEI brings the national scale, credibility, and infrastructure to help the media finance community grow – while MFM's trusted programming and peer networks remain central to the Member experience.

What types of programs does FEI offer?

FEI offers a broad range of professional development and engagement opportunities for financial leaders, including national conferences and local Chapter events, and continuing professional education (CPE).

For media finance professionals, this means keeping the media-specific programming you rely on today and adding a far wider platform of resources to strengthen your career and your organization.

When can I access my FEI Member Benefits?

On October 1, 2026, FEI will give all current MFM members access to the full slate of FEI Member benefits. FEI will send a welcome email with instructions to activate your account and sign in for the first time.

Your username is the email address FEI has on file for you. You can activate your account or reset your password at any time on the FEI Sign-In Help page.

If you do/did not receive the welcome email, please contact [email protected] for assistance.

FEI will move the six Member Networks LinkedIn Groups to communities on FEIconnect, FEI's Members-only online community platform.

MFM's CFO Network will continue to engage, including hosted Roundtables at the Executive Summit in February 2027 and the Financial Leaders Forum in May 2027.

Where do I find media-specific info on FEI's site?

On October 1, 2026, FEI will publish a dedicated Media Finance Section page on the FEI website.

Will there be any changes to CPE availability?

CPE will continue to be available through the media-specific programming you already participate in, and the merger expands your access to CPE credits through FEI's broader continuing professional education offerings. In short, members gain more opportunities to earn CPE, not fewer.

Financial Executives International (FEI) is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority regarding the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.

Provided attendees meet all applicable CPE compliance requirements established by NASBA during the conference, event, or webinar – including required participation time, completion of alertness checks, and any other applicable requirements – a CPE Certificate of Completion will be available within 3–5 business days following the conclusion of the program.

For questions regarding CPE credits/certificates earned through MFM (prior to October 1, 2026) contact [email protected].
